Mosquitoes start growing in water that has been sitting for 4 days and starts growing algae. Mosquito dunks and other Bacillis thuringiensis israelensis, (Bti) products kill the developing larvae. The Bti kills just mosquito larvae and doesn't affect fish, frogs or other animals. It is safe to use in fish ponds, watering troughs, and around animals. The Bti is dead bacteria and will not propagate, so you need to add it regularly during when mosquitoes grow.

Mosquito pressure is usually a symptom of standing water or irrigated landscapes, densely shaded resting areas, and low predator populations.

Mosquito fish, Gambusia affinis, can be used in many parts of the country in ponds and waterways to control mosquitoes by eating the larvea. Many mosquito control districts are supplying them for nominal cost or free. Feeder goldfish from pet stores can be used in farm tanks - they can tolerate very low oxygen in the water.

MOSQUITO BARRIER
Mosquito Barrier is a garlic-derived repellent that works as a behavior-modifying tool, not a pesticide.
