Why does The Star say Proposition 37 is complicated? It's complicated, not intellectually, but emotionally, for those who can't accept what's happened to the food.

More than 350 people with above average emotional intelligence attended Ventura College's "What's In Your Food?" on Oct. 8. The Star did not report it. Most in attendance have moved through denial and anger and just want control of their food.

Proposition 37 is logical and simple. It's an antidote for the third stage in the four stages of grieving. Watch someone just learning about GMOs in food causing problems linked to increasing numbers of diseases all around them, FDA scientists who know about it and, if they spoke their truth in public, they'd lose their jobs due to regulatory capture.

Those who wrote Proposition 37 did something heroic.

Once those in denial can process their anger and grief about the food, and achieve acceptance and a desire to take care of themselves, like the rest of us have, they will appreciate that all this law is going to do is help them find safe food.
